Oldskool101.com Intro

Posted by Webmaster on June 23, 2008

As Rhythm96.com was growing in leaps and bounds it was becoming apparent that we could not play everything the people liked on 1 station, so on February 15th 2005 we launched OLDSKOOL101.com. OLDSKOOL101.com plays “Classic Hip Hop, Dance and R & B” weekdays from the 1980’s and on weekends we have been know to go “wayback” and play music from the 70’s, 60’s and even some of those “dusties” from the 50’s.

So If you remember not having Cable TV; recording you favorite music on cassette or 8-Track; or Loved JR Ewing, Fred Sanford or even Fred Flintstone - This station is for you!

The Hit Man

Posted by Erick Abraham on September 29, 2008

Ok so i have been absent from dropin any new blogs lately..my bad but i have been busy. Nothing really new going on my area of the woods, been pretty quite and in case you are interested..no i still have not made it onto a soap yet..the closest i get to a soap is in the bathtub LOL !! HA HA !..i keep trying though so watch out jack wagner..the hitman is looking for your job !

Other then that, the wife and i had a chance to fly for free via virgin air to washington dc last friday, saturday and back sunday night..needless to say i have never been there and had a blast being apart of all the history. sat and walked around the white house, george washington memorial, capital hill and the lincoln memorial..i was so in awe of all the history of what and where i was walking.

Of course i’m a huge obama fan and just woundered if past presidents were just rolling in there graves knowing how much of a mess our country was in right now..just makes me sad..yet so happy to see this upcoming election that i wanted to encourage everyone no matter what your political background is, what party you are for, to just get out and vote when the time comes and make your vote count ! Lets take back america and put our country back together where it was 8 years ago !

You may not agree with my views and i may not agree with yours, but that is the beauty of america, we can have our own opinions and your opinion is yours and yours alone and no one can take that away from you. I Dont put others down for there opinions even if i dont agree..i love to hear otheres opinions and say ” i may not agree with you, but i respect your thoughts and opinions”. What does bug me is when some people feel they have the right to disrespect others because there views might be different then someone eles’s, thats not what america is about, its about equal rights and your right to say and have your opinions without others hurting you, or puting you down because of that.

You have the right to your say, and I respect everyones view no matter what.
I am for obama and i’m neither a dem or a rep, i am independant and reserve my right to vote whom i feel is best suited for the white house.

To be honest, i really dont belive in any policition in washington..there all out there to promise this and that and nothing i feel they ever say really happens, and both sides throw tons of mud and blah blah..but i vote for who i feel really wants to change things and who will role up there sleeves and really do a good job and not just sit back and use america for there own needs.

Vote vote and vote !  Make your voice heard !

Thanks,
THe Hit Man

“The Captain Says” - July 23rd 2008

Posted by CapnChrisHill on July 23, 2008

Wow, July has certainly flown buy! Besides having Maurice “The General” Starr, come by for my daughter Kayla’s 8th birthday party, at least 1/2 of the staff showed up for the Pool party and BBQ. Thanks for making my “little” girl happy. Then we were off to Miami the next day for meetings and got to see my all time favorite record rep - Rod (RK) Kenny. Also had lunch at the last place Johnny Versace had ate ate before he was killed in front of his mansion (The News Cafe’) on South Beach, courtesy of Kristina Corrales and the AD Council (smile). Then it was time to turn around and drive back ($110 round trip in gas! - OUCH) Thank god Marty was behind the wheel, while we were reminiscing about this probably was our 100th trip “down to the bottom!”. We used to go down to Miami at least once a month back in the day! “Just get on the 826 and ride!”

Now its time to get back to reality and work on the upcoming Treal Concert at Universal Skating Center - August 1st, as well as coverage of the National Urban League convention July 30th -August 2nd, where Presidential hopefuls, John Mc Cain & Barrack Obama will speak. Patti Labelle, George Clinton and Nancy Wilson will be preforming as well.

Also the I will be doing something I have not done in over 20 years on Wednesday July the 30th, and that is DJ at a skating rink! I will be spinning at Universal Skate Center for the Adult session that night! HTH….

Oh, By the way when is the Director of Communications, going to tell us what’s up!!!

Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll…

Posted by butchie on July 15, 2008

Thanks for all your emails, comments and suggestions about the new SkateTown USA.  Sounds like you guys had as great a time listening as I did putting it together!  Glad I could jog a memory or two!

As I stated in the show, everyone’s idea of a great roller skating jam is different… various areas of the country had alternate access to some regional hits and sounds.  If you were/are a roller skating DJ, or even just a fan… shoot me your top 3 or 4 (artist and title) from way back when, and maybe we’ll feature you/your songs in a segment on an upcoming show. The email addy is butchie@oldskool101.com

I’d love to hear what Poughkeepsie, Muskegon, Witchita, Fargo, Kalamazoo, Dubuque, etc… were rolling and grooving to back in the day!

Thanks again for the awesome feedback, and don’t forget to join me one mo ‘gen this Saturday Night @ 6pm Eastern for The Funk Factory and then @ 9pm for more SkateTown USA…ONLY on oldskool101.com!

STANKTASTIC

Posted by butchie on July 11, 2008

The time has finally come, my friends… Starting this Saturday night (July 12) you no longer need to pay some suka dj (or your little cousin Pookie) to keep your house party going.

The all new “Official Soundtrack For Saturday Night” kicks off at 6pm eastern with
THE FUNK FACTORY; three hours of the dirtiest, stankiest dance funk from the 70s/80s/ & 90s!

At 9pm eastern its SKATETOWN USA;  three hours of classic skate jams (my favorites… become a dj with 25 years experience and then you can pick the music) from back in the day!

If you’re having a house party, a little poker get together,  a neighborhood BBQ, or maybe just a night in with your significant other… make sure to log on and crank us up on the PC.

Summer Fun

Posted by dancindave on July 8, 2008

This is a fun time to be in Upstate New York, lots of festivals are happening, parades and just good ole get togethers. This weekend there is a 4 day festival with non-stop music, all kinds of great tasting food which means I need to hit the German Food Stand while they are in town, mmmmmm!!! Plus there are vendors, a car show all sorts of things happening! Also the Farmer’s Markets are in full swing with great stuff like fresh strawberries, peas, corn and lots of homemade breads and pies! The weather has been good to with plenty of sunshine, in fact my grill has been busy! I’m making cheese burgers tonight for the family. And another part of summer is all the music sounds even better doesn’t it? You crank it up a little more and you roll the windows down too! Summer rocks that’s all there is too it!

“The Captain Says” - July 7th 2008

Posted by CapnChrisHill on July 7, 2008

First of all, I would personally like to thank everyone envolved with The Aquarius 7 Broadcasting Network, and those who even listen to our programming and read our personal jock blogs! It’s truely amazing how far we have come in the last few years!!!

First of all, If you did not go see “Hancock” this fourth of July weekend, “shame on you!”. So If some one calls you an A_____E, you can’t take it out on them :-) (One of the funniest scenes I have ever seen in a move! - You Go Wil!!!) The entire cast of charecters deserves props. Yes even the sexy  Charlize Theron. I was wondering if Jason Bateman was going to fight Wil Smith over her. (Silver Spoons Vs The Fresh Prince - LOL)

Secondly, If you missed out on INDEPENDENCE DAY FROM YOUR RADIO (either the Re-mixes on RHYTHM96.com or the Classic Hits on OLDSKOOL101.com) you missed a treat. 3 days of non-stop hits (I don’t see Clear Channel, Cox or Infinity doing that!!!)

And Finally, we are puting the finishing touches on a “Skate Night” for our ROCK100DIZ.com listeners. As soon as the ink drys, we will pass on the details!

Thanks for the support, and please tell your friends (and enimes - smile) about our music and programming on the Aquarius 7 Broadcasting Network!

America’s got talent…kind of!

Posted by dancindave on July 2, 2008

Well last night curiosity got the better of me and I actually tuned into America’s Got Talent. Overall there were some interesting talents and of course some extremely bad ones. I mean talk about wanting your 15 mintues of fame…most of them should have stayed home to keep from embarassing themselves. But a few did stand out, the brother/sister dance duo was exceptional! There was the gentleman who did his Frank Sinatra phenominally well, Jessica Price with her sad story of her dad leaving her family really knocked everyone dead with her Bonnie Raitt cover of “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and the best of the night though was little 9 year old David Militello. He has autism and started singing before he ever talked, he was a cutie and nailed the Jackson 5’s “Ben” and made his was to Las Vegas, it was an inspirational story to wrap up the show. So for all the horrible auditions, there were some shining moments too! AS for me I’ll stick to what I do best, talk on the radio and enjoy life. Can’t wait for the UFC fight night this Saturday….my wife and I will be glued to the match especially between Forrest Griffin and Rampage Jackson!! Well enjoy your 4th of July and have a blast but be sure to keep it safe too and thanks for listening to OldSkool101.com
