Hey whats up everybody. Just wanted to say hello to everyone and especially members of the air staff  on  oldskool101.  I think everyone is doing  a great job  and  I  love  the enthusiasm.  Chris and I go way back and I appreciate him giving me a chance to expand my horizons and ideas. I believe internet radio is the wave of the future but the getting paid part needs some serious work LOL . Keep up the good work everyone including our sister stations. One night in October of 2007, sitting around in the studio, someone mentioned we needed to build a station that was completely different from the rest. So we came up with 3 formats for 3 different stations. One was for our low-powered AM signal (1710 AM) - which needless to say didn’t work and now is simulcasting Rhythm96.com, another was a country station which flew the coup, and the other was the re-birth of an FM station I had the privilege to work for in 1992-1994… ROCK 100 WDIZ.

So it really came down to search the dot com and found no one had the name. I still had my DIZ pictures (that had the logo on them). So we did our research and launched the online version of what was Orlando Florida’s Radio Icon for 25 years (1970-1995). What used to be 100.3 FM is now ROCK100DIZ.com.

We even have some of the original production (Liners) as well as the “grandfather of Orlando radio - Mick Dolan!” and the infamous “bell ringing” Captain Chris Hill doing the Nightdesk! (The bell started at DIZ folks!)

As Rhythm96.com was growing in leaps and bounds it was becoming apparent that we could not play everything the people liked on 1 station, so on February 15th 2005 we launched OLDSKOOL101.com. OLDSKOOL101.com plays “Classic Hip Hop, Dance and R & B” weekdays from the 1980’s and on weekends we have been know to go “wayback” and play music from the 70’s, 60’s and even some of those “dusties” from the 50’s.

So If you remember not having Cable TV; recording you favorite music on cassette or 8-Track; or Loved JR Ewing, Fred Sanford or even Fred Flintstone - This station is for you!

OLDSKOOL101.com - “Class is now in session!”

Rhythm96.com was officially launched as A7BN.com on March 31st 2001 as a part-time broadcasting platform on from 8 pm to 12 midnight. In 2003 we expanded to 9 am to 12 midnight, and in 2005 we started 24 hour operations. Also in 2005 we changed the moniker to Rhythm96.com.

Rhythm96.com has been the only Internet Radio Station to have media credentials to cover local major conventions, such as CTIA in 2007 as well as events at the major attractions in the Central Florida area. Also we cover on a regular basis the Orlando Magic, Orlando Predators and Jacksonville Jaguars as well as covered Super Bowls XXXIX and XLI. In 2007 Rhythm96.com has added full time personalities to our programming, and The Captain Chris Hill Show has been live every afternoon from 3 to 6 pm since 2003.

As of July, 2008 Rhythm96.com will be heard in the Goldenrod area via 1710 AM.
