LIFE IS WONDERFUL
Posted by muttonchops on July 17, 2008MP3js are the new PIMPS!
Posted by butchie on July 15, 2008I was thinking… why are we still called DJs? Seriously, have any of us spun a disc (record) in the last decade? Doubt it!
Can I go on record as inventing the term MP3js? We are, afterall, pioneering a new broadcast medium… and why can’t we have our own terminology and designation? So what if it doesn’t roll off the tongue just yet; give it time.
“I’m Bad Butchie Brown and i’ll be your MP3j, Noon-3pm eastern, weekedays on Rhythm96.com… i’ll be double clicking up your favorite jams on America’s Home for hip-hop, dance and R&B. You’re just a few keystrokes and a mouse click away from that song you gotta hear… email me butchie@rhythm96.com”
…NOT BAD, let’s get the promotion/publicity department on that… I think I’m onto something…
Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll…
Posted by butchie on July 15, 2008Thanks for all your emails, comments and suggestions about the new SkateTown USA. Sounds like you guys had as great a time listening as I did putting it together! Glad I could jog a memory or two!
As I stated in the show, everyone’s idea of a great roller skating jam is different… various areas of the country had alternate access to some regional hits and sounds. If you were/are a roller skating DJ, or even just a fan… shoot me your top 3 or 4 (artist and title) from way back when, and maybe we’ll feature you/your songs in a segment on an upcoming show. The email addy is butchie@oldskool101.com
I’d love to hear what Poughkeepsie, Muskegon, Witchita, Fargo, Kalamazoo, Dubuque, etc… were rolling and grooving to back in the day!
Thanks again for the awesome feedback, and don’t forget to join me one mo ‘gen this Saturday Night @ 6pm Eastern for The Funk Factory and then @ 9pm for more SkateTown USA…ONLY on oldskool101.com!
STANKTASTIC
Posted by butchie on July 11, 2008The time has finally come, my friends… Starting this Saturday night (July 12) you no longer need to pay some suka dj (or your little cousin Pookie) to keep your house party going.
The all new “Official Soundtrack For Saturday Night” kicks off at 6pm eastern with
THE FUNK FACTORY; three hours of the dirtiest, stankiest dance funk from the 70s/80s/ & 90s!
At 9pm eastern its SKATETOWN USA; three hours of classic skate jams (my favorites… become a dj with 25 years experience and then you can pick the music) from back in the day!
If you’re having a house party, a little poker get together, a neighborhood BBQ, or maybe just a night in with your significant other… make sure to log on and crank us up on the PC.
Summer Fun
Posted by dancindave on July 8, 2008This is a fun time to be in Upstate New York, lots of festivals are happening, parades and just good ole get togethers. This weekend there is a 4 day festival with non-stop music, all kinds of great tasting food which means I need to hit the German Food Stand while they are in town, mmmmmm!!! Plus there are vendors, a car show all sorts of things happening! Also the Farmer’s Markets are in full swing with great stuff like fresh strawberries, peas, corn and lots of homemade breads and pies! The weather has been good to with plenty of sunshine, in fact my grill has been busy! I’m making cheese burgers tonight for the family. And another part of summer is all the music sounds even better doesn’t it? You crank it up a little more and you roll the windows down too! Summer rocks that’s all there is too it!
“The Captain Says” - July 7th 2008
Posted by CapnChrisHill on July 7, 2008
First of all, I would personally like to thank everyone envolved with The Aquarius 7 Broadcasting Network, and those who even listen to our programming and read our personal jock blogs! It’s truely amazing how far we have come in the last few years!!!
First of all, If you did not go see “Hancock” this fourth of July weekend, “shame on you!”. So If some one calls you an A_____E, you can’t take it out on them
(One of the funniest scenes I have ever seen in a move! - You Go Wil!!!) The entire cast of charecters deserves props. Yes even the sexy Charlize Theron. I was wondering if Jason Bateman was going to fight Wil Smith over her. (Silver Spoons Vs The Fresh Prince - LOL)
Secondly, If you missed out on INDEPENDENCE DAY FROM YOUR RADIO (either the Re-mixes on RHYTHM96.com or the Classic Hits on OLDSKOOL101.com) you missed a treat. 3 days of non-stop hits (I don’t see Clear Channel, Cox or Infinity doing that!!!)
And Finally, we are puting the finishing touches on a “Skate Night” for our ROCK100DIZ.com listeners. As soon as the ink drys, we will pass on the details!
Thanks for the support, and please tell your friends (and enimes - smile) about our music and programming on the Aquarius 7 Broadcasting Network!
My Naughty Parts Are Tingling
Posted by butchie on July 3, 2008I couldn’t be happier about being a part of the Rhythm96.com family. Cap’n and I go waaaaaay back, like mid 80’s, Capn’s got afro- Butchie’s wearing Sally Jesse Raphael glasses- Bobby Brown hadn’t been to jail yet- Dr. Ant could still see his feet- New Kids were cool BACK.
We shared a mentor in the sorely missed Doc Middleton, but the Capn’ learned most of what he knows from me… I know that ranks me as a borderline failure, but I’ve been dealing with it thru cheap online therapy and Cheetohs.
I’ve got some great stuff planned for the mid-days, plus my FUNK FACTORY and SKATETOWN USA shows over on OLDskool101.com
Thanks for listening, and for the love of all things holy- TELL A FRIEND… this light bill ain’t gonna pay itself!
America’s got talent…kind of!
Posted by dancindave on July 2, 2008Well last night curiosity got the better of me and I actually tuned into America’s Got Talent. Overall there were some interesting talents and of course some extremely bad ones. I mean talk about wanting your 15 mintues of fame…most of them should have stayed home to keep from embarassing themselves. But a few did stand out, the brother/sister dance duo was exceptional! There was the gentleman who did his Frank Sinatra phenominally well, Jessica Price with her sad story of her dad leaving her family really knocked everyone dead with her Bonnie Raitt cover of “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and the best of the night though was little 9 year old David Militello. He has autism and started singing before he ever talked, he was a cutie and nailed the Jackson 5’s “Ben” and made his was to Las Vegas, it was an inspirational story to wrap up the show. So for all the horrible auditions, there were some shining moments too! AS for me I’ll stick to what I do best, talk on the radio and enjoy life. Can’t wait for the UFC fight night this Saturday….my wife and I will be glued to the match especially between Forrest Griffin and Rampage Jackson!! Well enjoy your 4th of July and have a blast but be sure to keep it safe too and thanks for listening to OldSkool101.com
